Originated in Carlisle, first recorded 1830. Mid-season cooker, pick from September for use in Sept/Oct. Trees are moderately vigorous, upright-spreading but susceptible to scab. Fruit yellow, small-medium, turning greasy. Flesh soft white, juicy, sharp & fruity. Cooks to a soft white juicy purée. Bunyard (1920) claimed it to be an apple “of no value”.
